And it is a 'Good Morning', another fabulous painting of one of my favourite places.

Another great one, Charles!

A super painting...love the warm colours.

I think your technique is to use quite liquid acrylic on watercolour paper, allowing the white of the paper to shine through in place of opaque white, but using gently applied opaque paint, eg in the reds of the foliage.... and having tried it, I know this can be very effective indeed, and also really pretty difficult: you (well, OK, I) keep wanting to add opaque white and thus thicken the mix: but if you do that, it turns the paint to sludge. I do find the use of Naples Yellow helps with this technique, because it has the opacity but doesn't grey everything so horribly that soon you're struggling with a sort of cement.... I also know that you need well pointed brushes and considerable calligraphic skills to bring this sort of thing off; but that if you can, you'll have a very distinctive painting at the end of the process. And you have; and you achieve your excellent results repeatedly. You say you're self-taught - did this technique come naturally to you after a period of experimentation, or did you adapt others' techniques and, by the way, perfect them?
