Lovely warm colours in this,I have been looking through ur gallery and i like all ur paintings

I really like the way you have depicted your water ,a great sense of movement and light

Yes, you have let the light in, it's beautiful.

Fabulous choice of colours in the water, love the purples and mauves. And I dearly wish I could get those autumnal colours in my pictures!

TONY ----If I can do it so can you---- think about it --you see the colours paint the colours----- I am only self taught not even a lesson

Bless you Charles - if only it were that easy! You must take a trip to my neck of the woods, South Leicester and take a walk along the grand canal at Foxton. More trees than you could poke a stick at, a canal, barges and locks. You would love it I'm sure! Question - how are you mixing your greens? I'm never happy with mine, never get quite the right tone. You clearly do!

I think it looks more than right, it looks fabulous - you have caught that hot colour which appears (sometimes) in Autumn, and there's a lovely sense of indirect sunlight being filtered through the foliage.

Tony--I use tube colours-pale olive green, olivegreen brilliant yellow green, hookers green-- and modify them by mixing with-- lemon yellow, cad yellow, raw umber burnt umber or black----as I paint in acrylics I can paint from light to dark but I can also paint from dark to light.dark to light is the way I prefer. Try it with your oils.------TONY you have got me-- a self taught paint in the cupboard guy giving you advise I am not even sure I am mixing my colours in the right way I also mix my colours on my painting while the paint is still wet.I seldom use white

Thanks Charles. I don't use oils - might be a different ony on the site. I mainly use watercolours, and can get a decent range of greens, without using the tube greens. But recently switched to acrylics, and most of my greens tend to look "plastic" if you follow me. Just not realistic at all. it must be the different medium reacts differently to watercolour. Like you I'm self tought, just for fun, and I love it it. Love it more when it goes right, mind you!
