This is a lovely piece of work. I try to imagine your hours spent underground, Charles, and I am filled with admiration and gratitude for the cheerful fireside hearths of my childhood. (I'm 84+ now) My old mum used to say that given a choice between a good fire or a good meal, she would choose the fire any day! It must have been a grim working life for you and your mates down there, and for the pit ponies who faithfully plodded on. Your art is wonderful. Thank you for sharing.....
