Oswald the Owl

Thank you to all who have been so kind in their comments about Oswald. The background took ages and I found that as the graphite built up it started to create a texture of its own that is evident when viewing the original. I love the challenge of interpreting colour in shades of grey. There is a study of a spray of Magnolia on my drawing board at the moment and your positive feed back has encouraged me to 'get a move on with it'. - Caroline

We have a breeding pair of barn owls in a derelict part of the Victorian pile I live in; and I can vouch for their curiosity, as they sometimes peer through the windows - you get this feeling you're being watched.... look up - and you are! Well executed drawing, the background has repaid your hard and patient work.
