Field, trees & poppies

Hi Carol, your doing ok by the looks of things. I love oils and once you get a good hold on them you can do so much more than possible with other mediums. Might I suggest you have a look at some of the old Masters and have a go at their skies, because you can learn so much by doing that. Try Aelbert Cuyp, Meyndert Mobbema or Jabob Van Ruisdael, looking forward to see how you get on. Best wishes Norman.

Hi Norman -many thanks for your comments. If you have looked through my watercolours and comments therein you will see that I have a passion for skies!! I have just had a brief look at the three old Masters you listed and see what you mean. I can't wait to practice skies in oils. I have come to painting quite late in life and have had no formal art education so your suggestion of artists to view is very welcome. Thank you.

Wow!! Carol, I think you may have found your medium. This is super; lovely movement in the sky and I love the impressionistic way you have dealt with the tree's and foreground. Apologies if I have missed any previous postings, I haven't been on the site for months! Hope you are well.

Thank you so much Fiona. I think you may be right in that I have found my medium. Using oils certainly fits in with my intermittent opportunities to paint and I am getting quite a feel for it. I have sent you an E-mail so I hope you still have the same E-mail address.
