Hi Carol, just looked at the comments on the snowman seen, certainly caused a good heated discussion. One things certain your work is defiantly looking great, love the latest.

Nice, Carol, is that dry brush on the trunks, leaving speckles of light ? That works well. You have the trees fading into misty distance and the cast shadows

Carol, it's got it all; depth, texture, tone. You really enjoyed this one didn't you? Lol!! It shows, it's lovely.

This is probably your best watercolour so far. At least I think so. Keep up the good work.

Thank you all for your encouraging comments. Yes Peter -I seem to have stirred up a hornet's nest on the subject of workshops. Jenny -it wasn't a completely dry brush but the texture of the heavyweight rough paper helped to give that effect. Fiona -yes i really did enjoy doing this & obviously learnt more than I realised. Pat -thank you -I too think it is the best painting I've done to date. Let's hope I can now get better & better.

Hi Carol, this is such a nice , natural scene. The shadows, the trunks and the fallen leaves are all painted so nicely. I prefer it to the snow scene, which was also good but this one has the edge for me :)

Thank you Sarah for your kind comments. Hopefully this marks a stage in my painting attempts when I can really produce acceptable paintings. It has taken long enough to get here!!

For those of you who have commented on my Snowscene posted yesterday thank you for your comments. I have replied on that screen. Since expressing my doubts I have found a wonderful website "photos4artists.co.uk" which has hundreds of copyright-free pictures. This painting is from one of those photos and has restored my confidence! Yipee! At the workshop (previously mentioned) I also discovered Bockingford heavyweight rough paper and this has made me realise the significance of good paper as opposed to practice paper. Painting 10x7 inches.
