Castle of Castiglione - Capri

Hi Caz, I know we're not meant to say this, but I like this, it makes me think of the lovely, adventurous walk there is in the woods up to the castle catching glimpses of that amazing cliff, best wishes, colleen

I like the way you have treated the cliff. The greenery must have taken some time to achieve !

Thank you Colleen! Thanks Beatrice, greenery was a bit slap dash I'm afraid so didn't take very long. Hi Sheila thank you for liking it - the size is 141/2 x 91/2 inches so not very big I'm afraid - need to get back to my big canvasses!

Great image Carole. The greens worry me a bit though, perhaps a more washed out and Mediterranean green would create a better contrast and impact. For what it's worth someone gave me a tip which was to use Paynes Gray with a selection of yellows from Lemon thro' to Ochre to produce more believable greens.

I love the cliffs - they seem to shimmer in the sun. How did you do this?? The vibrancy of the colour suits the subject so well. great composition as well, with a good sense of drama in the little castle on the cliff top.

I shall remember that tip Brian thank you. I wasn' t too worried with this one - wanted a surreal approach as with the cliffs. But that tip will come in very handy, thanks again

Thank you Thea - not sure how I created that "Shimmer" - I did use the sky blue with a hint of raw umbre so maybe it felt like the sea was reflecting - whatever I did - it was by accident rather than design!

Another fine work Caz. I can feel that Mediterranean warmth radiating out from this work...some of the greens can be this lush in the med [holly oaks]...it's all about the time of day...I like it.
