Carlina this is a super pastel landscape, you must have the patience of a saint to cover all the paper with pastel sticks, but it is great, all the colours and textures and sizes of the trees so good, and the lovely light tone of the lawn area looking like it is highlighted by a fading sun is really effective with great shadows, and all going on under a really good darkening sky full of the promise of a building storm, what a great position you were in as you say torn between the art exhibition inside and the glorious scene outside.

Perfect atmosphere for pastel work. Soft edges to shapes really help

Thank you both for a number of kind comments on a number of paintings! Ros - I don't find patience needed at all for pastel work, in fact I can work more quickly in this medium than any other. Using the pastels on their sides makes for rapid covering of the support and the sanded surface I use takes many layers (errors easy to obliterate!), great for letting one colour show through another.

Stunning autumn light the weekend of our painting group's exhibition in November just had to be captured. This was the view from the hall and across the fields towards our local church - I was torn between the lovely paintings on show inside and the wonderful display out of doors.
