Your description is as good as your painting of the subject. It does have an ethereal look to it. The actual plant could be used as a piece of installation art, would be interesting to hear what comments would be made :) Nice work.

Thank you for your comments, CA Jones. I'm glad to know my fascination with the structure and form of these plants is shared. A friend suggested they might be painted up as Christmas decorations!

That's a nice idea., if I ever find any I will try that suggestion. I must say I have never seen anything like this before and didn't know it was a plant, just an unusual and interesting work of art. I have learnt today :)

I was intrigued by these sea kale seed-heads on the pebbly beach at Pagham Harbour which looked quite ghostly against the shadowed shingle. I had been looking for a subject to persuade me to have a go at watercolour again and this seemed ideal. I augmented it with gouache on lovely, heavyweight Two Rivers hand-made paper.
