I like it Carlina, I like the pinky/purply shadows in the field, the reds coming through in the trees and a lovely hazy distance. Can't see anything wrong with your pastel technique - I cannot get anything other than a big mess with them

You have captured the heat of the day. From my viewpoint, all looks good to me!

I thought this was an oil painting when i saw it on the gallery. As you say you also paint in oils, perhaps this comes out in your pastel work also. Having said that, I think this works very well, as Jenny says, the red under painting gives life to the trees, also the marks in the field give a good lead in and the hazy distance gives depth to the scene. All in all a very good piece of work.

very beautiful landscape . I too thought that it was an oil at first :)

Lovely piece Carlina, For all the stuggles you say you are having, I think your work is great.

Sue, Jenny and everyone in between - thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful comments! I think we all need encouragement in our efforts as artists and you've certainly given me plenty of that. Now - onward to better things!

The colour is beautiful, I love the immediacy of pastel.

Having returned to pastels after over a year of painting in acrylics & oils, I'm finding it much harder than I was expecting! This small pastel was done as a 'distraction' to help me over difficulties I was having with the first subject I tried. Those problems haven't yet been resolved but I will keep trying.........
