This is my favourite, Beverley. I especially love the beautiful composition and the delicate, subtle colours you used. Can I ask, what colours did you use for the background? They are marvellous!

Thankyou so much Mia ! I think I used 3 really weak washes - first a watery wash of lemon yellow, then wet on wet with ultramarine plus lemon yellow for a greenish wash, then into the shadows with ultramarine plus alizarin crimson ( I think ! ) with maybe some of the green as well. My palette is so ancient I'm not sure of my colours any more ! I used masking fluid for the flowers and those background washes were done first so I could go in with the deeper colour quite easily. On a large sheet of stretched watercolour/acrylic paper. It's a book of paper my husband bought for me in France. It's a. XL Mixmedia A3 medium texture paper by Caslon. Quite stiff and lovely to paint on. Thankyou x

Agree with Mia - the composition and palette are super - beautifully done!
