Poires Pendues by Beverley James

Unusual staging of the pears, Beverley - but it makes you think doesn't it? Really well painted, like the design and tones (though I don't know what the placing of the objects means - perhaps saying "We are very important pears until we are cut and dead"? I like the painting very much but I'm not sure why. I've just started painting on board - it takes a bit of getting used to after canvas and gives paintings a different look.

Thankyou Pat. Can't explain about the pears - they are just lovely shapes. Painting on board is quite different, I agree - I quite like the texture . I'm a little worried though that the painting may warp in the heat - Poached Pears then maybe !

I like your painting a lot Beverley! Unusual and refreshing. I paint both on canvas and on board ( MDF) and cannot really say which ones I prefere. I have also painted on canvas covered boards but don't like them that much because they very rarely are completely flat and can react with the heat or moisture. I think the best way is to store them flat on the floor ( space permitting, of course). Good luck with your new project !

Thankyou Satu - your comments mean a lot especially as I very much admire and respect your art.

Hi Beverley, my eye got drawn to this as soon as I saw it, love the composition, layout and execution, at present I'm starting to drift this way, trying to find the unusual.

Thankyou Peter - it's quite a departure from normal detailed stuff, which I see from your lovely gallery that you're brilliant at. Quite liberating really !

A lovely piece, with a super composition. And unusual sight, but it works aesthetically. It's super!

Thankyou Seok - and it's lovely to see you back in the gallery !

Three suspended pears and one cut pear in the style of the amazing Althea Wilson, who is the most talented interior designer/painter/effects specialist. I love this style of mysterious wierdly placed objects, both natural and inert and would like to explore further this method of depicting everyday objects in unusual ways. An interesting project and I'm just a beginner ! Acrylic and gesso/structure medium on board 70cm x 50cm
