This is absolutely superb - as a watercolourist I am not sure if I am inspired or put off by seeing such a great painting. This has encouraged me to look at your gallery and I really do admire your work Brian. No there is not too much detail at all - I don't recall ever taking more than about three hours for a work other than a commission so I am not sure that I would ever have such patience .

I agree - there's not too much detail for me. I just love the colours and the contrasts - I feel I want to step into the painting!

I absolutely love the detail - as Christine said, I also feel that I could walk right in there. Lovely work!

There's isn't too much detail - you can paint pictures in various ways, simple, complicated, loose, free, tight, controlled: you're much too good to be hag-ridden by rules telling you how and what you should do. This is brilliant and completely captures the cold, and the beauty, of the scene = and I agree with you: I don't want to be out in this stuff - dedication is one thing, hypothermia is another.

fabulous, the shadows on the branches really bring it to life.

Never too much detail with trees !! This is really beautiful Brian.

Terrific as always Brian. This is the level we are all aiming at.

If only........really beautiful.

Wow, Brian, this is great. They all said it much better than I can, especially Robert. I agree 100% with all the above comments, super!!!

outstanding watercolour Brian, no negatives at all, simply stunning work :)

This has the wow factor, spot on.

This has the wow factor, spot on.

I can't see why you think there's too much detail in this; those trees are full of life (except the dead branch LOL). The light on the trunk is really good and the background darks just zing and push the tree out of the picture. Pure 3D painting on a 2D surface.

Everything is right here....... a huge Wow effect!

Beautifully painted, a really stunning piece!

Great image and technique

I can't understand why watercolourists (mainly) have this fear of detail, This painting is great because of your wonderfull technique and ability to paint what is there with enough detail to make it live,

And another WOW from me, superb.

I agree with William, this painting works so well because of the superb detail, simply wonderful!

Too much detail? Nope....it's absolutely perfect. Everything is balanced, it's beautiful.

Very cold scene but you have introduced warmth with the tree colours. The shadows describe the central trees form very well. Up to your usual very high standard, well done.

I can take all the detail you want to put in when it is as good as this. Superb!

This is fab, to use an old word from my youth! I love all the detail and agree with all above comments.

This was painted from a photo that I took.... it was too cold to stand outside and paint. As usual I managed to put too much detail in!
