Carnlough Harbour

More than just a bash Brian!

Works well Brian, lovely feeling of summer colour in the buildings, well painted boat and reflections. The background wash has dried a bit messy, as often happens. Perhaps the paper was too wet when the second colour was added. I always remember a phrase by Ray Campbell Smith, it’s more like ‘not so wet, into wet’. Another wise saying by Ron Ranson was ‘you will waste a lot of paper before you get there’.

Such a lovely, loose expressive watercolour Brian. A journey you are mastering so beautifully.

A lovely watercolour Brian. Soft, gentle and rather beautiful!

Thank you everyone for your kind comments on this. And thanks for the pointers.

Such clean and clear washes Brian…….the light and palette is gorgeous.

A few months ago I decided to throw myself into watercolour, a medium I've always wanted to try out. I started off following online courses by Kersey, and then discovered Peter Cronin and Grahame Booth. This is how far I've got, and there's still a long way to go. On on..... Happy Painting…
