Lovely insoiring view Barry and you have done it justice with this fine painting, you have certainly not lost your touch with oils after such a long break.

Needless to say you have captured the distinctive light beautifully!

This is my sort of scene, Barry. You've really captured the solitude, the clarity of the air and the beauty of the coast. I'm most impressed by the fact that it's your first oil in such a long time - what kept you so long from your paints??

A trip to the Outer Hebrides was an amazing experience. A harsh environment with endless wild beauty; inspiration and material for a lifetime of painting. Incredibly you are usually alone wherever you go. The composition is simple and works very well and it captures everything I feel about the area, so I chose this scene for my first painting in oils in over 30 years. Already I am hooked on the medium.
