When looking for inspiration I often get out my DVDS and spend a couple of hours watching the artists I admire. This exercise often serves to remind me of good practice and sound technique. While watching a Steve Hall painting in the Cotswolds I started thinking about my washes and mark making and decided to tackle one of the scenes. It’s not a direct copy as I concentrated on the scene rather than Steve’s painting. I was doing ok until near the end when I made the error of not making the right hand side shadow dark enough which has resulted in a bit of a mess on the front of the house and the car. However, it was a good exercise , it will be interesting to get his view when I see him tomorrow evening.
