Lovely painting, Barry - a very British scene, and just the right amount of detail... I think you've managed to keep this loose in style...

A lovely painting Barry - gives the impression of a sultry summer day. I like your colours and the haziness of the trees in the distance.

You always produce marvellous paintings, Barry, regardless of your initial intent. This one is no exception, mainly because to my eye you've developed a balance between the loose and detailed. There's still a lot of suggestion in this painting, especially in the middle and background. As ever, the subtlety of your palette is delightful. Lovely work. Brian

Thank youJan, Tessa and Brian, you are all absolutely correct and this has turned out fine but I am becoming more and more intrigued by how much my reaction to my paintings is coloured by my initial intent. Although I do find in most cases my opinion changes with time.

Nice loose painting, Barry.

Very interesting what you say about initial intent and later consideration! I’m not sure that I ever start with a complete end result in my mind, and that’s partly what I find fun but challenging about painting en plein air because light in particular changes so often. Also of course in a view such as yours you’ll have had people and possibly boats moving about to add to the challenge.

Excellent painting Barry, it seems to me that 'detail' is deemed to be something of a dirty word by many but I for one love to see it.

Nicet worl Barry, captures the mood well.

Nice work Barry I like the way the trees merge into the blue background

Just a super plein air, Barry and I really have to agree with both Brian and Tessa. So difficult to keep one's original idea plein air! But that's what makes it the most enjoyable way to paint of all! Marvellous painting Barry, love it!

Beautiful work, Barry.

Out with the art group yesterday in Bradford on Avon. Very enjoyable as the temperature had dropped a bit but there was stillness plenty of sunshine. Not the painting I had in mind as i wanted to be a little more abstract but I got caught up in the detail
