Thank you Linda, you would need to see Jem’s painting as a comparison but I felt I didn’t manage my washes very well which is why I think I can improve on it if I paint it again.

Very nice work Barry, has that on site freshness feel to it.

Standing next to Jem? No pressure there then Barry! The light and shadows are the first thing that attracted me and the balance in your palette sets the whole painting off a treat.

Thank you Stephen, I am of the opinion that Plein Air paintings often have something a little extra. Only the pressure I put on myself Fiona always enjoy painting in our group as there is so much support and encouragement. Thank you David, only disappointed as I know I can do a little better.

First proper Plein Air session with our group today in Bitton near Bristol. Was a bit disappointed with my effort at first probably due to setting up next to Jem Bowden who did a very nice painting of the same scene. However, it has grown on me after sitting with it for a while and I think it will make an excellent starting point for a studio piece.
