Dying sunflower

Dying sunflower

This has lovely colours and the leaves are lovely - so hard to do flowers but this is great. lovely to have done this for the memory, always more meaningful I think when there is a story behind a painting. I have managed to take reasonable photos of paintings through glass by turning off the flash and making sure there is no reflections - well light room but no direct light on the glass I think .

A lovely thought . clever painting.

Thank you for your kind comments. And thank you for your advice Norah. Much appreciated.

This is an acrylic painting that I completed recently. It was painted in memory of a friend of mine who died of Motor Neurone Disease, and it represents the struggle with life and death that he had during his last few years of life. It is a study of an actual dying sunflower, but I wanted to add bright colours amidst the darks in order to represent my friend's will to live and to imortalise it, in memory of my friend.
