Groote Schuur
I have recently completed this watercolour of this homestead which stands in Rondebosch in Cape Town, South Africa. It was originally built during the early years of the Dutch occupation of the Cape and the later purchased by Cecil Rhodes. He commissioned the British Architect Herbert Baker to update and modify the building. It later became the official residence of the Prime Minister of South Africa and then the President. It is now used as an additional accommodation for government dignitaries.
