Colours and shapes.

Painted with the left side at the bottom but prefer it this way since I started seeing vague flower and foliage shapes.

See what you mean. My first impression was tulips. It's lovely.

This is beautiful colour Sandra. People will try to see something they can relate to, but abstract is not about objects we relate too, but feelings, immotions and so on. I can imagine this piece very big on a wall and it would please me.

Thank-you Seth and John for your kind comments. I see what you mean John but I do seem to see things to relate to, even when not trying to. I am glad that you liked the colours.

Love the colours Sandra, and the bold organic shapes.

I suppose that I'm seeing flowers, but it doesn't matter does it?, the design is lovely.

Such good colour Sandra. Actually, it works either way up!

Yes Sandra my first reaction is to see flowershapes..those colours are just delicious . Do you frame these ?

Thank-you Jenny, Alan, Louise, Sylvia for your very encouraging comments which are really appreciated. No I don't frame them Sylvia as most are done on box canvas (I think that is the term). I would only frame the narrow edge canvas if I were selling them. I have a few hanging up and some others sitting on furniture, and swap them around when I get sick of them. And am running out of storage space!

Really great abstract. I totally agree, John, would be stunning as a really big piece. Gorgeous palette

lovely abstract Sandra . I like the colours and the downward movement

A great abstract, Sandra.

A feeling of inner warmth breaking out of the cold...like it.

It says 'tulips' to me Sandra, nice shapes and colours.

Thank-you very much Thalia. At present I'm working on smaller canvases at present to get more practice. But intend to do a larger abstract when I gain more confidence.

Thank-you Syd, Ellen, Andre and Margaret for your generous comments. I appreciate your taking the time to look and comment.

I instantly thought of all the beautiful Macaws, Parrots and other exotic birds that these colours represent. I love those really dark passages against the hottest colours Sandra, you have a good eye for colour and design.

Thank-you very much Fiona for your lovely comment.

Evocative of Paul Gaugin.

Thank-you very much Linda.

They’re lovely vibrant pieces Sandra

Thank-you very much Dermot for your lovely comment.

Small abstract in acrylic. 8 inch square recycled canvas. Playing with shapes and colour.

About the Artist
Sandra Kennedy

I became hooked on painting when I joined an evening class on painting "Abstracts in Acrylic" some years ago. Now retired, I was painting fairly regularly until the last couple of years when I've had a "creative drought". This year I'm getting back into painting, concentrating on abstract.
