lovely vibrant colours. perhaps a few more shadows under the trees. and a little softening of the green edge might help blend the landscape, but I am sure you will get a lot more help from more experienced artists. well done Sandra

Thank-you very much Tao. Those are good suggestions.

The colours in the foreground are interesting but very cool, although the textural effect is interesting. Generally you put warmer colouring in the foreground cool in the background. This gives a receding effect of depth. In the mountains you have lightened them as they recede but they are rather strong. I do like that greenish band along the tops of the mountains it gives a kind of atmospheric feel. The shapes the colours have made are good Sandra, they work as a composition. It’s the colour that needs some thought. Hope that helps a bit.

John thank-you very much for taking the time to give such helpful advice. I do seem to have gone off track with the colours. Will give that more thought in future.

Acrylic on canvas panel 16x12 inches. Some fiddling about and changing before it ended up like this. Not very sure about it so would welcome suggestions for improvement.

About the Artist

I became hooked on painting when I joined an evening class on painting "Abstracts in Acrylic" some years ago. Now retired, I was painting fairly regularly until the last couple of years when I've had a "creative drought". This year I'm getting back into painting, concentrating on abstract.
