I love the semi abstract feel to this, Sandra. If it were mine, I wouldn’t put anything else in it either.

Very eye catching. It looks great without the boat I agree.

Very lovely appropriate colours and indeed timeless, I would leave it as just nature Sandra.

I agree in principle Sandra, boat out. It would have served to add scale of course, but that natural uninhabited look would be spoilt. I really like this one.

This is a beauty Sandra, you are absolutely right to leave the boat out it would ruin the whole piece. Yes it is Timeless. You could say its abstract its only because the individual wants to make what “they” see it as that makes something so. Hope you see what I am driving at.

Great painting Sandra. Those colour shades are impressive.

Thank-you very much indeed for your lovely comments. It looks as if I made the right decision about the boat.

I think it's lovely as is, Sandra, love those colours..

Thank-you very much Lesley.

I think this is beautiful Sandra. Lovely colours and I personally can see an outline of a boat on the extreme right of the picture in the middle of the blue water!!

What super colours Sandra, it looks great without the boat.

Good decision Sandra.....leave it wild, untamed and brooding.

Thank-you Margaret, Fiona, Susan for your kind comments. Susan, if I am correct about what you see as a boat outline, that is texture, probably from the painting underneath, as this was painted over the top of one that didn't really work.

Oil on 20x30 inch canvas. A friend said that there should be a boat somewhere on the river. I thought about this but decided that I really want to leave it as a landscape untouched by human intervention. What do you think?

About the Artist

I became hooked on painting when I joined an evening class on painting "Abstracts in Acrylic" some years ago. Now retired, I was painting fairly regularly until the last couple of years when I've had a "creative drought". This year I intend to work on mainly abstract landscapes.
