technical terms are: pipe valves and stuff - but it doesn't matter one jot, it's a great composition in exciting colours which are so masterly applied - fabulous piece

I can't find words to tell you how extraordinary this painting is Avril! How can pipe valves or taps or whatever they are be so beautiful!!! You have got a fantastic eye for these kind of things and the capability to translate that vision on paper. I'm in awe. Il est magnifique!! Bravo l'artiste!

Thank you so much Michael and Satu for your lovely comments which mean so much to me.

Beautiful shades of colour and your signature wonderful painting of the rust on the pipes. It is quite a complicated subject, but you have brought it to life with you skill with watercolour.

The colours in this one are just beautiful Avril . Who'd have thought that pipes could look so good. You have a talent for seeing the beauty in some items others wouldn't look twice at and now, I often look at old doors etc and think to myself how well you'd paint them.! You are very clever!

A beautiful painting of pipes and hand valves showing the decline in industrial production in Europe. Labour costs are so much lower further east.

An amazing painting, Avril. Very well executed.

It's all been said Avril, you have a real talent for seeing and depicting beauty in these battered and rusty old artefacts. Fantastic skill!

Thank you Louise, Pat, John, Thea and Christine - as you know I appreciate them immensly. This former paper factory is now the home of the Galleria Continua, an Italian enterprise which shows modern art in all shapes and sizes. They have left the old factory as it was - a fantstic place for photos and paintings!

Stunning painting Avril.

Thank you Gudrun and Fiona , I'm glad you like it.

very interesting theme brilliantly executed

Great Avril, good textures and colour as always.

This is absolutely stunning, Avril! No idea what these pipes are called, but kudos to you for having spotted a great composition! The palette is gorgeous and I love that steamy backdrop. Fabulous work!

Hi Avril, I just wanted to say sorry but I am having a little time off commenting on the gallery. You see, my brother died very suddenly a week last Monday, all very traumatic as he went to bed ok and just didn't wake up again. I can't seem to get down to anything at the moment but hopefully when the funeral is over I can try and get back to normal. I have let a few people, who I have know for a long time on POL, know why I am absent as I didn't want anyone to think I was ignoring them and being rude. Take care, Thea.

My favourite so far, Avril, from your wonderful gallery.<br />Also, thank you so much for taking a look at mine!

Some very colourful pipes and taps seen in a disused paper factory. Painted on Fabriano hand made paper bought at the Museo della Carta in Fabriano. 37 x 27cm. PS I'd love to know the technical names for what I've depicted !!!!!
