Febulous colours Avril - unusual subject works well.

Warm and wonderful colours - febulous even [ lol]

Avril, this is lovely!! Beautiful soft colours and the subject so unusual and full of mystery! You shouldn't have chickened out of a great opportunity because you are more than capable of producing high standard work and this is a proof of it. I love it!

Agreed, this is super Avril, I know what you mean about having confidence in your own abilities without the pressure of working to a timescale or and under outside scrutiny!, good idea to have a good at that challenge idea by getting the sheets of paper yourself without actually having the pressure of the challenge on you, love your palette and the light and shade in this one

You have such a talent in transforming decay into beauty Avril, the colours are gorgeous.

Thanks you all very much for your appreciative comments. My palette was very reduced here......alizarin crimson, quinacridone gold, cobalt blue and of course burnt sienna!

I can't ever recall having seen such unusual colours - certainly not in one of yours Avril. Obviously a labour of love deliciously executed. I take it this letterbox was a precursor of messages in bottles...

I do think this is one of your best, Avril. The colours are so subtle and very unusual. A really stunning piece of work.

Thanks Kim, Helen and Thea for your kind comments. This letter is ours - on our front gate which we've never got round to painting except on paper! It was put out of service at least twenty years ago because it wasn't the "standard " size....... everything has to be the same size, colour, weight........ you get the same sterilized products in all the supermarkets across Europe. Anyway "old is beautiful" so here it is!

Love the gentle palette in this one Avril and your depiction of this old letter box is superb as always.

Love the colours in this Avril, so soft.

Thank you Val and Carole. Glad you like it as your oppinions always matter.

A stunning piece, Avril! Love the harmony of the myriad shades which give the painting such depth and punch.

My biggest yet ...... 58 x 42 cms on Fabriano Artistico. This was really a challenge as I'd had the opportunity of showing a painting next summer in Fabriano but I chickened out! I would have been sent three full size sheets of Fabriano paper 75 x 55 on which I had to produce my work ..... I declined the offer but tried something big with no pressure behind me ! I've even bought three full size sheets.......
