Love this, evocative of so many feelings and memories, of boat trips, of how these boats would have looked when working, great colours in the boats, the sand, and the sea beyond, lovely details in the parts of the boats still left and particularly on the deck of the boat in sight, your rendering of the wooden hulls and deck is excellent as well

So many felicitous touches here Avie: the highlights on the lifted foreground planks; the contrasting rudder; unusual palette; bold swooping persective... It all comes to together in a wonderfully expressive whole.

Another excellent addition to your wonderful gallery. Your use of that gorgeous blue against the yellow is perfect. Whenever you post a new painting I find myself looking back through your entire gallery to admire your craftsmanship. Well done.

Thank you Ros,Kim and Chris for your lovely comments which always help when I'm not sure about a picture.

The bleached wood of the far hull, the gorgeous colours in the shadowed near hull, the unusual perspective all make for a fantastic painting Avril.

Fabulous control of the medium Avril - makes for a great painting

Kim has expalined beautifully why this is a great painting. A pleasure to see.

Absolutely marvellous! Love your use of colour and this unusual viewpoint which works so well leading the eye into the painting.

A fantastic watercolour Avril! Such delicate touch and beautiful gentle colours with an interesting composition and very realistic looking shadows. Let it be the first of many wonderful paintings this year!

Thank you Val, Michael, gudrun,Lesley and Satu for taking a moment to write your appreciation. I didn't find this easy as the deck was very pale and bright in the sunshine and a watercolour needs colour! Getting the shadows dark enough was also difficult...

You have a fantastic ability to spot these compositions and then the also have the skill to interpret what you see in such an artistic and striking way. This is a wonderful piece of work and I love it.
