Red Paint, Ceret (Pyrenees Orientales)

Red Paint, Ceret (Pyrenees Orientales)

This is great Avril and quite inspires me - I took a photo of a similar doorway in Spain which is still in my collection and waiting to be painted.

As you already know I love this painting Avril! There are some new colours on your palette, especially that lovely red which makes the wall sing! Well done!

Thank you Helen, Michael and Satu for posting these appreciative comments. I find red a difficult colour to use as when used as a light wash it always comes out pink! Any advice would be welcome.

This so reminds me of some of the Venetian walls I've seen, but the colour is different. Of course...I love it!

Really love this Avril, beautiful colours and so well painted

Yes, it's not your normal cool blue, but it is a great painting nonetheless.

Oooo - zingy red! Love it - from the writing on the wall to the peeling paint and drainpipe. Wonderfully well observed.

Many thanks ladies - your comments are always highly "valued"!

Another gorgeous piece of peeling wall! Only you could make it look so artistically appealing, Avril! I love the palette and the various textures.

I missed this during the summer. I think the broader canvas really stimulates you to even better things Avie. This is packed with felicitous details, none of which detract from the whole however. Stunning technique!

This old wall was crying out to be painted! Seen in the lovely French town of Ceret. I get the feeling maybe some young Brits let fling here! 31 x 46cms Langton Prestige.
