This is brilliant Avril, marvellous composition and great colours, so well painted

beautifuly painted, lovely detail and colours.

Unusual subject, billiantly painted. Jealous! :)

Just soooooooooooo well painted I like that your shadows are see through so often artists paint them too dark. How long have you been painting? you seem so good at your art.:)Linda

fabulous watercolour. It's so interesting how you take an object that most people would pass by and not notice and you produce such good paintings. I've started noticing such objects now and think of your work ! Well done, super painting!

Wonderful painting Avril, you have a very artistic eye to spot this.

hi this is so different but very good a lovley piece of art work from paula

I'm soooo pleased that you like this rather strange subject; thanks for your lovely comments. Linda I've been painting on and off for twelve years but really regularly for two.....since I discovered POL ! The feedback and looking at other people's work every day have helped immensly.

yes - brilliant. Unusual, but there's nothing wrongh with that! I could see a market for this sort of image. Macho types that perhaps wouldn't look twice at art wouldn't turn their nose up at this. Perhaps you should try selling it to caterpiller, here in sunny (?) Leicestershire! But all that aside - an astounding & observative work.

Fabulous painting of an unusual subject, that's what you do so well Avril, you make the uninteresting very interesting!

Took me a moment to work out what the 'caterpillar' was! Was looking for a small green wiggly thing and then realised how clever you had been. I should have know as a grandma of a small digger mad 5 year old boy! This is so clever, Avril, and another example of your wonderful ability to pick out small details from life and make them into something important. Beautifully painted, as usual, with all the textures and details that make the painting special. Is this to be the start of a series of JCB's and the like. If so, can't wait to see what you do next!

Thanks again for posting your comments. I agree with you Tony - just right for some industrial office! And Thea your generous comments are always such fun to read - what does JCB stand for? I've rather lost touch with "modern" English ! (40 years in France.)

JCB stands for J C Bamford, who make most of the diggers, loaders, caterpillars, etc in this country. In fact the company has so captured the market in the UK that these machines are often just called JCB's even if they aren't actually made by the company - everyone knows what you mean. JCB's are almost always yellow. You see, I am up to speed with my heavy machinery courtesy of Noah, who corrects my ignorance all the time!

My husband works for JCB and they are still made in this country, in Staffordshire!

Lovely and very unusual subject. Well done.

Wow! All the light and shade is so well done, and I do love your use of bold colour with watercolour, this painting jumps off the page.

Thnks a lot Lorraine and Lesley. It's so reassuring to get good feedback from such accomplished artists. Off to Brittany tomorrow to see what old boats I can find.........!

Oh Avril, this brings back memories! I worked on a number of cases involving Caterpillar equipment when I was starting out as a trial lawyer, but none of them was as appealing as this glorious piece! Love the colors, the composition, the fabulous sunlight and the beautifully captured details.

Well done Avril , I haven't been on for a while so I'm trying to catch up, this is just superb and I'm sure to see it again in this months top ten , enjoy Brittany. : )

may I add my congratulations to everyone else. Love the shadow.

Avril this is an amazing piece of art I felt like I could touch it! Such a brave subject to paint also, great colours and textures give way to a really effective composition which you have handled it would appear with consumate ease! Thank you for your comments on my offerings but really "I stand at your feet! " Brilliant! Best regards Chris

This is so good Avril that I can't really say anything except stare at it and admire. Stunning!!!

Hard to bring off an intimate and affectionate close-up of a caterpillar track, but you succeeded Avril. A tour-de-force.

Thanks Satu and Kim for catching up and liking my efforts!

I think we all love the colours in that bulldozer wheel Avril!
