Still life with jug

Gizza clue - medium? Size? Your pepper on the left gets lost against the dark background, but I can't judge this at all without knowing the medium it's created with - as a still life, it works; but I'd like to know more about how you painted it.

Lovely shape on jug. Robert is correct with the pepper getting lost, are you able to lighten it a bit?

Re the pepper, maybe a variation in the reds? Nice to look at though, it looks confidently painted.

Hello, thanks for the comments, it is painted in gouache and it is on A3 paper.

I painted it by first painting the darks, kind of like a silhouette, and then adding the mediums and light tones on top. The gouache paints are opaque but it seems that a lot of the dark paint has seeped into the red of the pepper making it appear dark overall.
