Lovely painting. So much detail capturing the busy summer but not too much that it's crowded. Very nice.

P.S. Forgot to say love the effect you have got on the roof tiles.

Thanks Jean - the point is that the detail is really an illusion. If you look closely it's mainly just an impression of a crowd of people. There's hardly any real detail there. You just paint two or three at the front in some detail and then the eye and brain sort of fill in the rest. I use this as an example to my classes and workshops to reassure people that putting figures into paintings really isn't that difficult. The roof tiles are done in Cadmium Orange and Burnt Sienna and applied with a dryish small brush.
