Toy Poodle

Another of my favorites! Toshi couldn't have made him look better!

I've known a good many poodles, toy and standard; they've all been affectionate, intelligent dogs - but the trouble is that it's very hard to paint them without making them look excessively "cute", or even, frankly, a travesty of a dog, because of the ghastly topiary to which they're subjected. There is something wrong when you get a dog which looks like nothing so much as the late Mae West. Having said which, and deeply offended all owners of primped, powdered and pampered poodles, your painting is competent, but I do feel sorry for the dog. Thank God they have little if any self-awareness....

Thank you Seok Yam, Kirstie and Robert. Kirstie, I am glad to know you have a toy poodle. I used to have a Miniature and Standard Poodle. This is such an intelligent breed. I now have 3 whippets. Robert, I enjoyed reading your comments. :)
