I too have kept a sketch book handy and used one for many years. I have more than 30 now, containing records of my travels at home and abroad. A couple of years ago a friend persuaded me to publish a selection of the sketches done over 20 years, some just ink drawings, some ink and wash. I did just that! And although the sketches were done for my pleasure only, I derive great pleasure from the comments I get from purchasers.

Denis, you're just ahead of me in the sketchbook stakes..........I have about 20 plus some special holiday ones which I tend to give away to my partner or my daughter. I like the idea of having some published like you've done. Keep sketching!

A few sketchbooks - these are the more recent ones, only going back to 2017 but already reminding me of forgotten days out! Pen and pencil drawings, watercolours, the odd mixed media effort............

John Whitehead

A Lancastrian who now lives in Buckinghamshire, I'm a professional engineer, former lecturer and self-taught watercolour painter. I've drawn since childhood and in the 1970s began to tentatively add watercolour to pen drawings. This is still my favourite medium but I do make the occasional foray…
