Hi ~Anni. I'm glad to see the work of a 30's fan. It is very captivating, i like it...the snow? it looks very good to me...Oh how big is this work?

Hi Phil, This is a large work 36 inches x 15 inches and is hanging in my hallway at the mo. There is something very romantic about the era. I have been enjoying watching David Suchet as Hercule Pirot on DVD. The programmes are so well filmed and show beautiful Art Deco surroundings: buildings, room interiors, clothes etc... The sad thing is I have viewed most of them now. I am attracted to the ceramics of Clarice Cliff too, it is something about her use of colour and simplicity of line that appeals. Thanks for viewing and taking the time to comment. Best regards ~ Anni :)

Lovely painting, striking colours. A very sophisticated era. Well done.

Really like this - bit of a deco fan. Know what you mean about adding those snow flakes - take courage but it paid off for me

Hi Carole (Swingler) Thanks for your comments. Yup, it was a great era, but not so great if you were poor. I also discovered the music of Al Bowlly who was very popular in the 30's in England after watching the DVD's (the Beeb I think) of a series called 'Pennies from Heaven', definitely worth a view. I'd like to paint some more 30's inspired paintings in the future, perhaps even still live objects from that era. Good to hear from you ~ Cheers ~ Anni :)

Hi Carole (Russell), another Art Deco fan than? I bought my partner a beautiful restored 1937 Atwater Kent tombstone valve radio last year for his birthday surprise. It is a beauty, even has a little dial that lights up and has good sound. I still hope I'll come across some Clarice Cliff pottery in an opportunity/thrift shop one day. Thanks for taking the time to look at my work and comment. Best regards ~ Anni :)

Acrylic on canvas I like the designs of the Art Deco era and was inspired to produce a painting featuring 1920s fashion. There is also a slight influence of the 1930s British ceramic artist Clarice Cliff I refer to the tree shape. I had to think very carefully when I painted snowflakes because I was scared stiff I would ruin it with big white blobs. I suppose we all learn something from ecah picture we paint.
