H Anni, room on the sofa for two?

Nice one ~Anni. I like what I see your stylish bold blocks of clear-cut colours...Me? it would be sat painting in the shade under the vines...in-front of the tourist-tat shop come Mel's art gallery...on a Greek island of course...yas sas.

Lovely colourful naive style, which I find so attractive and appealing. Like Robert - it sounds very seductive to have a bolt hole in such a lovely setting. Very nice work.

Ha..ha...Robert...yup why not, hope you don't mind the odd protruding spring though! :) Phil, painting all this on a tiny canvas wasn't easy..I needed more room. Yes, your idea of a Greek Island...sipping wine under the vines sounds appealing. I wouldn't mind relaxing having a high tea on the lawn overlooking a large lake, when Jeeves pours the Earl Grey into the finest bone china...offering me smoked salmon sandwiches and raspberry friands. Peacocks strutting around...oh well ...I was always good with my imagination :) Thea, this is the second time in the last few days my style has been labelled naive...so guess you mut be right. :) Thanks all of you for looking in and commenting. I will try and have a look around on this site this week, but it isn' that user friendly to locate your work. It's late so I'm off to go astral travelling ~ Anni

I like the line of washing. It resonates with me. My Mum and Dad have a home in the West of Ireland an idyllic spot and I love to arrive there and see a line of washing which Mum always seems to have out. It speaks to me that all is well, and backdrop for this line of washing is lovely mountains. I always see it from a distance as you approach the house across the valley very much as you have described in your image. Thanks I enjoyed the reminder.

Anni, I hope you know that I meant naive in the most complimentary way possible. I am a great fan of the American naive paintings and they are so hard to do and get right. Yours reminded me of them and, as I said, I love this style. I have two American naive style paintings hanging in pride of place in my home - so I like it that much! Keep them coming like this as I enjoy them so much.

Hi Angela, I really enjoyed hearing about your memories of washing...I am sure there must be a book inside of you, just waiting to get out. Perhaps you could paint the scene? Thank you for looking and sharing your thoughts and memories. ~ Anni :) Thea, Yes I do know what you mean about naive style. I have often wondered what type of style I have (if any) and just recently a painting of mine called Innocent Partner (which is on here in my Portfolio) won 2nd prize in a local art awards competiton. The judge said it had a naive style...so ther you go...you are correct. It just comes out that way. I too love those American style naive paintings...always lots of little things and detail going on in them. Several weeks ago I bought a book called And Miss Carter Wore Pink: Scenes from an Edwardian Childhood. I bought it for a few dollars on an auction site. It is full of beautiful colour plates The artist wanted to illustrate what life was like as she was growing up to her grand children, so embarked on painting a series of paintings which make up the book. Worth a brosw if you get the chance. What a skilled granny. ~ Anni :)

Acrylic on canvas 10 by 10 inches Many of us have had the dream of a little place far away from the rat race and crowds of the city. A place on a small grassy knoll over looking the ocean. Being lulled into a peaceful sleep by the wavesat night and seeing the sun rise and set over it. This is my idea of a little place by the sea an old sofa on the verandah to relax on and read, the sound of sea gulls as they glide on the wind currents, some small boats to take on little adventures with friends, a sanctuary. I am painting a set of 6 small 10 by 10 inch canvases for a forthcoming exhibition called Small Packages which will run in November at the Bruce Mason Centre in Takapuna, Auckland. The theme is open and all artists are from the NZ Art Guild. All paintings will be the same size.
