Many thanks Julie,, did work further on it today...

It's bold and simple, but I feel the movement. I watch these birds in Wells and they really move like your painting. You must be pleased.

Two lovely pictures Angela.

Such a great pose! Lovely work!

Why thank you Julie, when I was studying Visual Art we did engage in some life drawing at the Botanical gardens and these Water-hens were Spedding near the lake, I was struck with their movements and the way they move their heads, they are my favourite water birds! Thank you Stephen and and Alan I am preparing to enter three Birds of the Marshes to a local exhibition in August, the next one is the Black Swan!

Really looking forward to your black swans. I love them. Exmouth in Devon has them in the middle of the town. I love watching them. Hope you will share your exhibition experiences later

Thankyou Julie and John , yes, these birds are interesting to watch and the way they move lifting their legs so slowly and gracefully. Next the Black Swans Julie!

Another bird for exhibition title 'Birds from the Marshes' I have painted a white swan with cygnets and this water-hen was inspired from our walk through some marshland about a year ago. These water-hens sped so eloquently and so I applied water colour pencil and added dripped candle wax as a glaze. It needed to be scoured back with a wooden spatula but has retained the wax well.
