'Emu Child'

I bet your granddaughters will love your picture book Angela - what great characters emus are!

That is delightful!!

Love it Angela, keep it going..

Why thankyou Sarah, David and Jim. I have been sketching Emus all week and so today started drawing with charcoal pencil then added some acrylic. Usually I leave the graphite images but something struck me to add colour! The burnt umber brushed lightly and then the charcoal started to run and thought I had messed it up, but never realised how well charcoal line can remain intact! I added titanium white to layer the cheeks and remarkably the charcoal blended into a grey so left it to dry out. Strangely enough the residue of water and titanium white formed like chalk so rubbed it over the beak! Oh well, it's another experiment in Emu Art portraiture! Yes, Emus pose so well and now I can start painting more Emu pictures as may draw in pencil and charcoal first then add colour! I appreciate your feedback as it's been a transformative experience in combining different mediums being used to acrylic formerly , and starting afresh with charcoal after many many years, thankyou all!

They will love this book

A brilliant idea to create a book for your granddaughters Angela and I'm sure they'll treasure it.'Emu Child' looks a right character.

Started to draw a larger portrait of 'Emu Child' in charcoal pencil then added some acrylic with brush. This is a mixed medium and added some chalk around the background. This is another feature for the pictorial book I am creating for our youngest granddaughters.
