Like this a lot Angela

Very nice Angela.

Why thank you Heather, I had some pastel sticks in my Art cupboard which were begging me to try out so I sat and gazed at these apples and walnuts the other day,,, was a wee bit dubious at first as didn't quite know where to start, however those stalks seemed to show me proportion, and then I added the reds and yellows and white/beige for highlights. I decided to use a dry brush to wipe debris away and it seemed to work a treat! The walnuts stuck out like they were beckoning too, so used the edge to score grooves, and leaving the darker colours till last was a happy mistake! I am amazed how the pastel has formed upon watercolour pad it kind of drifted over and set!

Thank you Denise, Its the first pastel still-life ever attempted and although I was a wee bit scared of over smudging they were light and probably the watercolour pad was a great surface too, however it was different and we do learn by experiencing different mediums, I recommend MUNGYO soft pastel mini elongated sticks...

I love the soft colours you chose in this appealing still life Angela.

Thank you Carole, I may try to pastel on a larger surface next time, its beginning to grab my interest as still-life drawing helps when trying out new mediums and soft pastel is light to rub in the forms. Am just experimenting and am learning how to apply with colours and forms.

Wonderfully soft effect Angela, like it.

Thank you Fiona, Just started using soft pastel so am experimenting with this new medium for 'still-life' drawing and learning how to apply colours.

I painted a still-life of three apples and walnuts in pastel using dry brush which helped with bringing about a smooth effect.
