"The Red Centre" by Angela Harrison

The combination of sharp and soft edges give a very interesting feeling, the painting is so harmonized.

It has heat as well as a calmness Angela and as Dennis mentioned, harmony in marks and colours.

Thank you to Kwok Wai Chau, Sandra, Dennis, and Fiona for all of your comments and feedback on this Contemporary painting. I wanted to emphasize the various sediments which are prevalent in the 'Red Centre', it was a slow paced painting exercise!

Painted a contemporary layering of rock formations for the "Red Centre", Australia, where the earth is dry, and porous rock formations of sandstone lie beneath the arid hard crust of red ochre and actually pinkish in some remote areas. Fortunately some subterranean streams flow beneath the earth's crust, and that's where Artesian wells are a source of providence during drought. I painted in slow mode and allowed the contours to flow with the pace of the brush upon the canvas.
