"The guiding light"

Nice sentiment Angela, remembering the Nativity.

Thank you Jim, I wanted to express the Nativity as it was quite a special Christmas this year. Our family all gathered on Christmas morning and with the little ones present it inspired me to paint them a Nativity scene.

I painted this Nativity Scene yesterday. I made cardboard figurines and cut-outs then painted each form to print on the canvas board. I laid the canvas flat on a surface and pressed each template onto the board. Later I decided to dry brush titanium white over the forms to see if a shimmer would emerge over the bold primary colours of cerulean blue, pink and burnt umber, left it to dry out. I wanted to produce a shimmer of light as from the impressions of the ancient replicas of the original drawings.
