This is excellent Andrea, you seem to captured the minutest details here, your portrayal of the fur is really good, I'm still practising with pastels

How on earth you get that soft gleam in the eye using pastels I shall never know - they just defeat me.... Great portrait of a big, solid dog.

Thank you everyone for your really kind comments. I am a bit of a stickler for detail...well I should say my mum is...she is my art critique :-) The gleam in his eye is achieved by using light blue pastel pencil for the highlight although you can't see it so well in the photo. I took the original reference photograph myself and the reason he has such an intense stare is that someone else is holding a treat for him whilst I snapped away :-)

Beatiful portrait Andrea of a beautiful dog. I bred Labradors, a long time ago, he has a fine head and a strong expression!
