Good work in this one. By all means go back to the books, but nothing beats practising, drawing from life. Frustration arises from trying to draw from your imagination when starting out - figurative artists have to really look at things, until it becomes second nature, and explore with their pencil. Taking a line for a walk, Klee called it. Take a look at Adebanji's sketches on this website.

Good for you, I love to keep learning, not sure it sinks in though!! Still go into the next painting or drawing like a bull in a china shop. You have a lovely touch with the pencil, great tones.

I'm a bit like Carol and just charge in when I start a painting so I applaud you for returning to the books. This is a fantastic pencil drawing, light and shade are really good.

Lovely pencil work, leaves are very well drawn.

Thank you all so much. I didn't really like this one too much, I thought it could be a lot better, but I feel happier now. I've just starting drawing again so your comments are really motivating. I can't wait to start painting at my classes, hopefully this week or next.

So hope you find your classes enjoyable :-) and really this drawing was really quite good.

; ) the most important aspect of art is enjoyment, doesnt matter what others think,as long as you enjoy doing it. well done . : )

I did two pics yesterday. Not completely happy with either but I'm getting better at some aspects and I know I am learning always. I've also gone back to the books to learn how to draw better rather than drawing instinctively.
