... so it was inevitable that there would be something like this. This is done usng the "matchbox" sketch set of Conté, with four sticks in it - white, burnt sienna. burnt umber and black. Toned paper is a must to get the best out of that selection! If I look a little severe, it's because I was concentrating (and a bit tired). To be honest, though, I'm actually quite pleased with the way it's turned out. The colours seem to work, the modelling is just the right side of chunky, and I think I got the proportions all right (or mostly so). Even the stray hair over my glasses seems to be a good thing. Go on - tell me what's not so good about it...
