I really like your knife oils which are excellent. This one is no exception.

Whether I'd have recognized the teasels had you not identified them, I don't know - but it's a striking painting nonetheless; and you've avoided the big problem with knife painting - that it can seem brash and obvious.

Thank you, Gudrun and Robert - although, Robert, you've got me wondering now if any of my other knife paintings are "brash and obvious"...

Breath again, I don't think they are; but knife paintings can be too .... well, too easy (I'm sure this one wasn't); effects can be too readily achieved, and people don't always finish the painting adequately because the impact of the impasto carries them away..............
