It is a strong image Amanda, and it's a great image!

I like this Amanda, for the suggested movement in the sky, the strength of the chimney and the story it holds, and the greens which sit so well with the strong blue of the sky and the grey of the chimney. Lovely!

This is a very impressive, strong painting. I like the way the rock formation balances the chimney, good composition here.

Thank you for your kind words. It was a gift of a subject, on a glorious spring day, although I didn't realise the potential of this scene until I'd inspected my photographs.

the rocks in the foreground have great defintion and good colours.

It reminds me of my holiday in Cornwall. Really nice :)

Great painting Amanda. Love the composition and colours

Colours great as is the stone chimney and rocky outcrops, lovely work

It is a strong image. Very nice. Especially love the top of the big chimney!

Painted from a photograph that was taken during a day spent wandering around the Cornish mining heritage site of Botallack. I did make a painting on site, of an engine house, but I wasn't happy with it - nor with the "studio" (aka "dining room") version of a similar scene. But I am happy with this painting. It's less predictably touristy, and I think it's a strong image. Oil on canvas, 40 x 40 cm
