And why not Amanda to get the smashing result you have.

Love it - great abstract qualities without compromising the subject matter.

Thank you, gentlemen. Would you believe that this isn't the drawing I was thinking of originally? It took on a life of its own... I think I may have to retackle it.

I've never yet had a drawing or painting turn out exactly as I envisaged it - but then I'm not sure I'd want them to. Possibly the trick is to contain them before what you wanted to say gets lost in the thicket - I have an oil, which I keep handily by, to remind me what happens when you allow that to happen. But you've got to try different things all the time, or how are you to know how they'll turn out? You could work on this one in all kinds of media and in many different ways - eg, tackling those roots with a painting knife and playing with the light falling on them from between the branches. I'm sensing a series............

Acrylic inks. From a photograph (which wasn't so brightly coloured :-) . A4. Kind of experimental... threw nearly everything at this; used a brush, some water, a dip pen, my fingers...
