Like it - has an atmosphere all its own.

Thank you, Robert. I'm still uncertain as to whether it would have worked so well in my "usual" style.

The horses are definitely galloping! I like this style too.

I should explain. The "gallops" is the exercise area - a track used by racehorses to practice racing. Which does, of course, include galloping.

The only way you can know that is to produce another version in your usual style; but - if it were me - I would have little enthusiasm for that if I'd said what I wanted to say. I keep thinking what would this look like if I did it in oil or watercolour; sometimes it's interesting to do that, but very often it's just coming back to an old pile of bones. One day I might do it, but for now I have so many new things I want to do that returning to old work holds little appeal. Given a choice, producing new work has probably got to win out over revisiting older pieces. Although ...... if a subject really attracted you, why not revisit it? Another life on top of this one would possibly help......

This is a beautiful painting, a lively atmospheric picture, lovely style

Thank you again, Julie. Slightly coincidental that you picked this one out because there will be racehorses exercising in the fake railway poster that I posted earlier as a WIP...

So, the sketch was for a mural. I gave it to the school (their mural). Then a friend said she wanted the sketch - so I did a "proper" version. ~~~~ Acrylic on canvas, 40 x 80 cm. ~~~~ Palette as before but with Azo Yellow Medium added, to beef up the greens. ~~~~ Inspiration from Fauvism ~~~~ Source images: a pair of photograps taken on a 2012 painting expedition.
