Interesting in Basingstoke? It has it's own bits of charm but mostly the villages around it. Smashing piece Amanda, with lovely textures and palette.

Brilliant textures Amanda!

Derek, Derek, Derek. There is a whole exhibition of interesting-in-Basingstoke happening in November. Not just me. Five artists worth of interesting-in-Basingstoke. It isn't far from Winchester. Visit. I shall be posting the how-not-to-get-lost-in-the-one-way-system directions later this evening on http://artikinesis.org.uk/artikenisis-blog/ - and other useful practical things like when it's open.

A subject perfect for a limited palette, I thought; the whitewashed tower of the ruined chapel in the Holy Ghost Cemetery stands out against the darks of the late summer trees. From a sketch with photographic backup. One of the interesting things I found in Basingstoke :-) Palette: Titanium White, Phthalo Blue, Yellow Ochre. Oil on linen canvas. 36 x 48 cm. Knife painting. Not enormously good photograph; camera batteries low, so I resorted to the tablet.
