Yeah, tis a bit dark. Great drawing thought Alison. You can still see that, dodgy pic or not. I think 'Katie' is really great work. Top marks matey.

Thanks Chris, and it's unlikely I'll get a better photo of this one now!

I admire your portrait but what is "circulism"?

Hiya Alison. Circulism is simply drawing in circles. For the texture of skin they can be tight dots ranging to loose whorls. On this portrait I used a whole range of circle sizes because Steve's skin is older and male. For Oliver's I used more loose circles - keeping his skin looking smoother and younger. The circles can be joined together in loops, or individual independent dot like circles. This drawing was made up of layer upon layer of circles in different sizes - fairly time consuming, but I think the effect is worth it. I hope that helps explain it a little. :o)

Thank you Alison. I doubt whether I can achieve such an effect but i will try. Thank you for your help.

You are welcome Alison. October 2005 was the year I drew my first realistic face, until then I would swear that I could never possibly attempt such a thing :o)

I've looked at your faces and the skin on them achieved with circulism - it's great. I'm going to try it myself. Thanks so much, Alison.

Thank you Angie! I hope you have fun with it!

My 3rd portrait (Jan '05). And one I am hugely proud of as I wanted realism and think I managed it. 2B Graphite on Bristol, and my first attempt at circulism.
