this is in paynes grey , slightest touch of umber in the left tree

Beautiful winter scene Alan, I love the colours! Happy painting to you too!

A lovely rendition of a wintry scene Alan, all the more impressive as you used mostly only paynes grey!

I like the monochrome color of this, and the atmospheric trees in the background.

thanks guys.many years ago I would look through the artists magazines and read Edward Wesson,s articles .and to be honest I did not appreciate his work at all.,and yet, over time I see things in his work I never saw back then ,It took me a while before I changed my thinking about art, . its a learning curve ..isnt it guys.? with me .every day my eyes open wider. and I see another new colour to try .but funny I am still looking ..its well over sixty years ..I dont think I will ever find it do you?, ,and my view of life and art changes with time ,but I dont want myself becoming so insular that I think only the style I have chosen is best ,,. thats a thing I must never do. nor you .

Indeed Alan, hence I try out things now and again. This watercolour is beautiful in its tone, composition and colour - that payne's grey ....

Ah paynes gray - I love it and this painting demonstrates why - super Alan

Stunning in it's simplicity Alan. Thank you for opening my eyes to different colours and subjects Alan.

Magical, love your palette here. Paynes grey has hidden talents!

Very elegant painting - who would have though that Paynes's Grey could produce something as super as this?! I hope your painting goes well this year Alan.

Happy New Year, Alan! Superb piece, Alan - lovely atmosphere and superb rendition of layers.

Absolutely gorgeous!
