Well now! What does one say? The paintings throughout your gallery are so exquisite I am stunned. I enjoy struggling with my acrylics but know that I will never achieve even half the level of competence with them that you have achieved with watercolours. Just out of curiosity, what size are your paintings generally and how long does it take you to complete one, the one above for example?

Absolutely stunning....

Absolutely perfect, Alan!

Fantastic handling of light

What a delightful painting this is! I LOVE it!

what a lovely painting, i favour limited colours myself, well done

A beautiful painting Alan and a stunning gallery.

This is lovely - don't you just want to walk down to the bridge?? I can see why it's your favourite view and I could very happily live with this on my wall.

I agree, this is wonderful

Absolutely beautiful.

Beautiful watercolour - everything about it is just right. All with three colours - that's impressive.

This is indeed a beautiful watercolour. This is probably a silly question but how do you manage to sign your paintings so neatly in white paint.? Despite using a fine brush and white gouache I usually end up with a messy signature. I wondered if you used some sort of pen as yours are so neat!

Many thanks everyone for your most kind comments. Lionel - I usually paint 1/4 imperial on Arches 140lb rough paper, although this painting is smaller and measures 14" x 9", it normally takes me 25 - 30 hours to complete a watercolour. Louise - I sign my paintings with a small round brush and white gouache mixed fairly dry. Happy painting. Alan

Thanks Alan, I guess I need a steady hand and fairly dry gouache.! As you know, it has to be right first time, there's no going back with watercolour!

A stunning watercolour.

Beautiful atmosphere and wonderful light. A thoroughly enjoyable painting, as are all your others.

Lesley Many thanks for your kind comments. I've tried to e-mail you through POL but you probably did not receive my message. I was interested to read of your exploits in Ken Howards studio. A few years ago my wife and I were on a cruise holiday and on visiting Venice,by chance we bumped into Ken and Dora, I introduced myself ,we had a chat and within a few minutes we were invited back to his studio. Unfortunately we were heading back to the ship and could not accept his invitation. He is a fantastic artist and a lovely chap. We're visiting Venice again in May, I'd love to have a painting session with him. I do like your treatment of painting water. Happy painting !! Regards Alan

And so beautifully painted! The clarity of the painting is superb. Jx

Congratulations on a top ten gallery place Alan , well deserved a beautiful painting.

Well done on making the Top Ten - richly deserved with this outstanding painting.

Well done on being one of the most viewed paintings. I'm not surprised though, it's lovely, one of my favourites!

Once again many thanks for your most kind comments, they are much appreciated. Happy painting !! Alan
